Silver Charms for Children

Charms will delight young kids. My charm bracelet has endless fascination for my young niece I know. But do be careful when you buy silver charms for kids. Although charms are great presents for older children, don’t buy charms or charm bracelets for very young children or allow them to play with a bracelet unsupervised as charms can represent a choking hazard.

If you buy for a young child make sure that the child will not be given the bracelet or charms to play with but that it will be put away for the child to enjoy when she is older. I think it is a nice idea to buy a charm bracelet for a young baby girl (perhaps as a Christening or Naming Day gift) and then to add a charm to the bracelet for birthdays and holidays and other special occasions as the years go by. That way, by the time the baby has grown up she has a beautiful piece of jewelry to appreciate, which has been lovingly put together over many years.

You can give charms, which signify events in the child’s life and their favorite hobbies, sports and toys – a teddy bear and rag doll charm would be lovely or a doll’s house charm. With a visit to Disneyland, a Mickey Mouse charm could be added. Starting school, a blackboard or book charm can make it’s way onto the bracelet. Ballet lessons warrant a ballet shoes charm and learning to play a musical instrument, you can add a tiny version to the bracelet. Before long the bracelet will be full of memories and look fantastic too.

It is probably best to buy an adult size charm bracelet or to plan on buying a new larger size when the child outgrows a smaller size bracelet. The adult bracelet will probably be too big until the child becomes a teenager, but it is a pity if the child outgrows this wonderful piece of jewelry. If you plan on switching bracelets make sure that you buy charms which can be easily removed or use fastenings which make this easy such as split rings or lobster catch attachments.

Once the child is old enough to wear the bracelet allow her to go shopping and pick out a charm or two for herself as young girls have definite likes and dislikes. Although you can’t really go wrong buying silver charms you may as well buy something, which will give the most delight.

Italian Silver Charms

Italian silver charm bracelets are quite a recent innovation. These bracelets and the silver charms which decorate them are becoming more and more popular as they are a bit different to traditional charm bracelets. Italian charms clip onto a special expandable band rather than dangling from links. They are like traditional charm bracelets however in that each charm is individually chosen so that you end up with a unique piece of jewelry that means something to the person who chose it.

You can buy Italian charms to represent all kinds of things in the same way that you can buy traditional charms but these charms are flat rather than shaped like animals or shoes – though you might buy a charm engraved with a picture of a shoe or dog or in the colors of your favorite football team.

No matter what your budget you can make a special bracelet but for an extra special one stick with silver charms. If you can’t afford to buy a whole silver bracelet you can buy just a few silver charms and fill up the rest with cheap and cheerful items until you can afford to replace them. The beauty of this system is that the charms are uniform in size and compatible with each other so you can mix and match different types quite happily and ring the changes whenever you like by clipping different charms on and off your bracelet.

If you buy silver charms online you will be able to easily add up the costs as you add items to your shopping basket.
